The secret of the unique relationship between clamping travel and overall length lies in the design of the DoRa ratchet load tensioner. Instead of two identically designed threaded spindles, which are turned "against each other" in the closed clamp, the DoRa ratchet load tensioner has two different clamping spindles.
One spindle has a larger diameter and is hollow on the inside, the other has a smaller diameter and fits into the cavity of the larger spindle. When closed (retracted), one spindle is screwed into the other.

Thread overtightening protection
If you continue to turn despite the marking, the second mechanism engages. The threaded rod is freely rotated. However, the tensioner is then not broken. You can simply screw the threaded rod back into the nut & tension normally
